From a NJ kid, to sales executive. Homeowners activist, to Chief of Staff for DeKalb County Commission District 1. With a new life direction, I am trying to help as many people as I can through building community, community gardens, feeding the hungry and cutting through the red tape and insanity of local and county governments. Maybe even an occasional commentary now and then.

Stop the presses, I agree with Joe Hirsch
Last week, Joe had his turn at bat with our stellar Ethics Commission. Joe was both lucky and unlucky.
Unlucky because his case was dismissed before he was given the opportunity to present any evidence, but lucky that he did not have to deal with the total ordeal for 9 months. (although he did wait a wee bit for a response to his ORR)
I have no clue what Joe's case was about or its merits. What I do know is that it was dismissed on a technicality. Paper work was not filled out properly or something like that. No specific code section was cited in the complaint or it was not notarized, something like that. Guess Joe should have hired a lawyer or two.
To dismiss a charge because of a paper work error or missing notary stamp is just wrong. I hope they address that in the new code that is being considered.
Don't worry Joe, I will not make it a habit
